The first look at the new $28.8m Benalla Police Station was shared by Victoria Police and media to coincide with a visit by Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes to the location of the new site.

Designed by Foreground Architecture (formerly FMSA Architecture), the new police station will replace the existing aged station with a state-of-the-art headquarters to better serve the growing community.

Continuing Foreground’s trauma-informed architecture principles deployed across a portfolio of key justice sector projects, the Benalla Police Station will better support the separation of witnesses and victims from alleged offenders, and will include secure interview rooms and a safe space for those in custody to receive visitors.

Set for completion in 2024, the new police station will provide local police with purpose-built facilities, including welcoming and safe spaces for police and the community, a reimagined memorial garden, and an Incident Police Operation Centre for regional emergency management response.
